Laser etching laptops – Exploring around 3/26/07

Exploring around Google blog search this morning I came across Your Tech Weblog blog on laser-engraved laptops, iPods and other gadgets.  What a great idea. This isn’t a new idea but it’s nice to see some new companies offering this service. Now laptop users can add a personal touch to the appearance of our laptops. A colorful laptop bag along with a tattooed laptop; sounds like a good combination to me.
Here are some companies currently offering the service (if you know of a company not listed, let me know.)

• ETCHamac - located in Peoria, AZ does custom laser etching for mac’s. The ETCHamac site offers an online design studio.
• Adafruit – a New York company that does laser etching for laptops, iPods, cell phones and other gadgets
• Technology Tattoo – a Minneapolis company that does etching
• A.J. Industries – located in Princeton, MN, does marking and etching work on all types of equipment
• RazorLAB Ltd – a London based company offering laser etching on laptops, iPods, etc.
• Laser Devils – UK based company that offers laser engraving, cutting and marking in all types of matericals and products.
• Scott Campbell Tattoo – via Cool Hunting, this Brooklyn tattoo artist will etch your laptop for around $200.
• Ghost Marking – San Francisco Bay area company that offers “tattoos for your toys”. via ladyada from adafruit
• iStyle Custom - Los Angeles company that will laser etch a design of your choice on to any personal electronic device you supply.
