History of the color PINK

The color pink is one on of my fave’s. That’s probably obvious… Rainebrooke is all about pink laptop bags and cases.  Pink is a color that has so many shades the number is endless. It looks great in clothing, flowers, art, electronic devices, and did I mention bags 🙂

The color pink has been around a fairly long time; first recorded in the 17th century to describe the pale red color of the flowering plant in the genus Dianthus.  Pink is a combination of red and white which is why there can be so many different hues of pink. With each variation of the depth of the color red or white you’ll get a different shade of pink.

Some people I’ve talked with are often surprised when they hear that pink was originally considered a color for males. It wasn’t until the 1940’s that pink was considered a female color. While this is still the norm for today, it’s nice to see this lightening up a bit and now more men are wearing pink.
