Last week Alan from Ice Red Designs sent me a UNI cargo laptop tote bag to take a look at. While I believe the styling of the bag is best for a woman, I’ve been personally testing it out and I must say I’m really impressed with the bag so far. Plenty of room, plenty of pockets and nice craftsmanship with all of the pattern cuts, stitching, zippers and material being well made with great quality.
The first line of the UNI’s product description on the Ice Red web site is “Take on your entire day with the UNI laptop bag!â€Â This line describes the UNI perfectly since the bag gives you room and pockets for everything.
On the inside which is a nice bright orange color, there is a padded laptop compartment that fits most 15†laptops. Opposite the laptop compartment is an organizer section that has 2 zippered pockets, business card holder, pockets for pens and 2 other open top pockets for small items. The entire organizer section is only attached to the bag at the top, so it allows you to pull the organizer section to the outside for easy access to small items. There is also generous room on the inside of the bag for other items. I was able to put my laptop, power cord, mouse, calculator, notebook and a couple magazines and there was still plenty of room. Even if I needed more room, the outside of the bag has a zipper on three sides which when unzipped lets the bottom of the bag expand from 5†to 7.25â€.
On the outside, the front of the bag has one large zippered pocket and two long pockets with Velcro closures. The back has one large open top pocket that would be good for files or magazine. The bag has two over the shoulder style straps which will be needed if you really stuff this bag full. I would have personally preferred a shoulder strap, but I had my wife try out the bag and she really liked the length of the straps as they are.
The UNI is made from 1680D ballistic nylon, measures 12â€x 6â€x5†(the bottom is expandable to 7.25â€), and is currently available in brown, black (inside pictured), gray, navy and lime (bag pictured and the color I tested). You can purchase the UNI on the Ice Red site for $45.
